The other is to benefit from the fact that times are tough and bargain hard with the ad salespeople on price. Wait until the end of the month - some will be desperate to fill empty adspace in their publications.

A Simple Test

A way to test if a specific ad actually works is to register a telephone number or a domain name only to be used as contact details in that ad. This is a relatively inexpensive thing to do and it allows you to monitor acurately the response you get from the ad, allowing you to judge wether or not it is worth the expense and therefore wether or not to keep placing it or try something else.

Ad agencies will not like you for thinking this. But that expensive adspace you buy every month – are you sure it actually is working for you? Remember, it is the job of sales people selling adspace to tell you that you need to keep placing ads month after month before they eventually start working. This is often nonsense.
